As a self-proclaimed scarf lover, I’m a huge fan of finding different scarf styles in order to switch up my look. We all know the traditional ways to wear one, but what about those out of the box styling tips? Or, perhaps you have NO idea how to style a scarf and you need to start with the building blocks and work your way up to some scarf pizzazz. Either way, I got you, because this month’s Style Tips is all about different scarf styles. I’ll be using my classic Burberry scarf for all of these looks so that you can truly see the versatility of this wardrobe essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scarf Styles: The Basics<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I thought I’d start off with a classic- not everyone is a scarf connoisseur, you know! The easiest, and one of my favorite, ways to style a scarf is to just let her hang loose! Make sure your scarf is even and hang it around your neck. This look works really well on top of a long coat or vest or just over a sweater like I did. This also works great for men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This style is the best when it’s not as cold as expected out, but you still wanted to scarf-accessorize. It doesn’t really keep you warm while it’s hanging, but it is still incredibly stylish. An alternative to the basic ‘hang’ is to wear is as a sort of shawl around the back and arms! I like to do this with a sweater dress in the early seasons of autumn when it’s not too cold out and I can get away with no coat. It’s such a cozy feeling – like a hug in a scarf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Waist belts are ALL the rage right now. I personally find this look always stylish, but it just so happens to be extremely trendy right now! You want to start off by hanging it around your neck, add a waist belt, and voil\u00e0! You are stylish and giving those Instagram influencers a run for their money. Not only that, but it marks your waist and helps gives you that hourglass figure. It truly is THAT simple. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The choice of belt is up to you, but I recommend sticking to neutrals especially if your scarf is loud. I tend to go for skinnier belts, but I do plan on investing in a larger Valentino belt later this year. You could also go for those HUGE waist belts, but do be careful! If you are shorter\/have a shorter torso, this could actually cut your frame and not be as flattering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A way to give this styling idea a little extra spice is to wear the scarf over one shoulder instead of your neck as pictured below. It’s definitely a look, so be ready to rock it with confidence. I love how unexpected this is while still maintaining a well put together vibe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
