I am so excited to share my first style tips post with you! The plan is to continue to do these monthly. 🙂 I’m a big fan of a capsule wardrobe; it’s what I focus my Personal Shopping business on! A capsule wardrobe means having quality, key pieces for every season that all go together and can be worn time and time again. Quality over quantity is definitely the mantra here. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen me wear this blouse and I’ve mentioned it in other blog posts as well. A silk blouse is a dressier piece, but I wanted to show a few different ways to style it so you can truly see the versatility of a classic item that should be in every women’s closet.
Chic
Chic is the style I tend to aim for on a day to day basis. There is a certain appeal to wearing timeless pieces and looking classy, effortless, and incredibly well put together. It’s also a style that I think varies from city to city. Parisian chic vs New York chic are two VERY different styles, but they’re both flawless in my opinion.
So, for this look, I decided to keep it simple. To be honest, chic and silk go hand in hand, so there is nothing crazy here! I decided to trade in my usual pair of heels for some pointy flats to keep it a bit more low key. As for the paperbag pants, I opted for a more structured pair to keep the chic vibe instead of a more casual fit.

Rocker
Rocker. Now this is where I can really give you some style tips! Rocker and silk aren’t really two words I ever thought I’d say in the same sentence, but here we are. I’m a huuuuge rock and metal fan and I’m no stranger to the rocker style. I thought it would be fun to incorporate such a classy blouse with an edgy style. This would be perfect for an after concert date or if you have to run from work to the show!
I decided to tie the silk blouse and turn it into a cropped fit in order to make it more edgy and less dressy. Adding the leather jacket on top helps hide the sleeves and, of course, gives it that bad b look. The attitude doesn’t hurt, either. 😉 I wouldn’t necessarily go front row and mosh like this, but it’s 100% seat and back row proof! This is an outfit that I’ll save when we can attend concerts again (Mötley Crüe, I’m looking at you).

Business
This is definitely a typical silk blouse look, but it has to be included. Funny enough, this is very similar to one of the outfits I used to wear when I worked for corporate America. 😉 So, it’s already work approved!
I do enjoy a pencil skirt, but this one has a little pop of color which keeps things interesting. Plus, the white in the skirt helps tie the whole look together with the blouse. As for the blazer, I opted for a boyfriend style in order to give this outfit a bit of a breather since it’s so structured. Style tip: with any collared top and blazer combo, pop the collar out over the blazer. It looks more sophisticated, put together, and stylish. You can even pop the blouse cuffs out over the blazer if you want a little something extra, too.

Casual
Silk?! Casual?! YES! It can be achieved, ladies. I’ve already tested out this look a few times with different pants and shoes and I’m really digging it. It’s comfortable, elevated, but still casual. You can easily run errands in this or grab a quick last minute lunch with a friend.
If your sweater has a more of a high neck fit, make sure to pop out the collar like I mentioned in the ‘business’ style. You can also see how I cuffed the blouse sleeves over the sweater, too. This style works great with leather leggings, skinny jeans, and flats as well.

Party
Ahhh yes, the look which inspired this whole blog post. Next time you have a soirée, try reaching for that silk blouse, ladies! While you can tell it’s a night look, it looks expensive and will turn heads. I can promise you this is one I’m saving for the day we can go out again!
I do have a, *ahem* larger chest, so I couldn’t go as low as I wanted with the buttons, nor could I skip a bra, so I opted for a lace bralette. If you don’t have that problem, skip the bra if you’re comfortable and try using pasties with some fashion tape in order to keep everything in place and even unbutton it a little further. Style tip: a long necklace is a MUST for this look! It helps lengthen your neckline and attracts the eye while still being tasteful. Just make sure the necklace is more delicate and not gaudy!

Final Silk Blouse Thoughts
There you have it! Five ways to style a silk blouse. Some are expected and others, not so much. Overall, if you’re trying to style a piece for a look that is atypical, just make sure your accessories encompass the vibe you’re going for. Also, less is more. You don’t need to over accessorize in order to get the style point across; that often turns out tacky. Select a couple key pieces to help put that look together and don’t pass on the details. 🙂
What was your favorite silk blouse look? Personally, I’m leaning towards the rocker look.
